Always wanted to write a play?  Always had a great story and didn't know how to tell it?  Always wanted to see your work on stage?

Well...it begins with the beginning!  Playwrighting 101.

Apricot Sky Productions will be offering an introduction to Playwrighting Class in the Winter of 2011 in Montclair, NJ.  Students who are interesting in learning the art of writing a play will undergo a 10 week playwrighting session.  This introductory class will start with writing the basic one-act play.  Students will work on their plays each week, and have their work read in class.  Feedback on thoughts, structure, dialogue and story will be provided by fellow students and the instructor.

Classes will meet one night a week for 10 weeks.  Students will learn how to construct, write and structure a one-act play that has a beginning, middle and end.  Each week students will work on the layers of telling a story:  brainstorming the idea, putting the idea on paper, coming up with colorful 3 dimensional characters, moving the story through conflict, learning to write realistic and believable dialogue, have a powerful opening, a strong middle and a satisfying ending.

At the end of the 10 week session, students will have their plays read on stage with a script in hand format in front of an audience who will have the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions of the writer.
