How and where it all began...

Apricot Sky Productions was founded in 1999 by Eric Alter in Montclair, NJ, with a mission to bring original works to the stage at a time when few local theaters were doing so.
Based at the Grove Street Theatre inside The Deron School of NJ, Apricot Sky Productions has presented original productions for more than 20 years, both in Montclair and New York City.
We are dedicated to giving a platform to emerging playwrights, actors, and directors. Our community is always seeking new members eager to showcase their talents across a wide range of performance opportunities.
Originally focused on theater, Apricot Sky Productions expanded into television and film in 2022. That same year, Eric Alter wrote and produced the TV pilot 180 Days, which has been featured at festivals including the Golden State Festival in Los Angeles and the Big Apple Film Festival in New York City. Apricot Sky Productions also produced the short film In Reverse Order, based on Eric Alter’s stage play of the same name.
Giving back to the community is central to our mission. Over the years, we have produced benefit performances supporting causes such as domestic violence awareness, local soup kitchens, cancer research, and September 11th memorial events. Most recently, in 2021, we raised $2,400 for the National September 11th Memorial & Museum in honor of the 20th anniversary of the attacks.
Apricot Sky Productions is committed to continuing to showcase fresh voices and bold visions in theater, television, and film. We invite you to be part of our journey.
