Apricot Sky Productions will be holding auditions this summer for its upcoming show in September. Show dates will be: September 26,27,28, and October 3,4,5. Auditions will be from 6:30-9pm inside the Deron School of NJ (The Grove Street Theatre, 130 Grove Street Montclair, NJ. Please have a 1 minute monologue prepared, and sides will be provided. Apricot Sky will be holding auditions on Thursday night, June 19th at 130 Grove Street, Montclair, NJ 07042 from 6:30-9pm. Please prepare a 1-minute monologue, sides will be provided. In Reverse Order: Two people bring their previous romantic experiences with them on a blind date, both not wanting to repeat past mistakes, but Gordon’s approach may prove directness may be the key for fresh start. Gordon – male between the ages of 32-42, friendly, present and open to life but not without experience with bad relationships. Renee - female between ages of 28-38, was once engaged but it didn’t work out. She is bitter and closed down, though wary, she is finally getting back out there after being pushed by her friends and mother. Waitress – female, between 28-45, attractive, a people-person who is turned into her customers and enjoys her job. Shrinks: Two psychologists share a night of dinner and realize they share more in common than they thought. Dr Marshall Winters: 60 to 70, regal but approachable demeanor. Charming. His confident appearance betrays some regrets of his past. Dr. Robert Engel: 30’s, neat appearance if a bit thrifty looking. A nervous disposition with a reserved manner of speaking is occasionally broken by brilliance beyond his years and a courage to reach beyond his experience. Light intimacy scenes. Waitress: 25 to 35, comforting and sweet, but a strong posture/stance. Waitress will occasionally represent other figures of the past. Light intimacy scene requiredAll 3 performers will have some minor dance steps: no prior stage dance experience required The Break-Up King: a man considers his current relationship with his overly clingy girlfriend and is ready to initiate a break-up yet again but is afraid of the outcome. He decides to take the couple for love advice from a fortune teller. STEFAN – 25-40, unhappy, wants to break-up with current girlfriend. Wary, guarded around girlfriend, a bit of a lady’s man. LILLY – 25-40. Clingy, deranged, girlfriend from hell, energetic, trusts astrology and “signs” about their relationship, wants to move to next step with boyfriend. MADAM SHELBY – 60s-70s. Fortune teller, may have an accent, wise, advice giver. The First 5 Minutes of Any Rainstorm:Father 60's Son 30 The Most Beautiful Rock: A young marine shares an emotional journey of his past. Casey, (M, 20-25 in appearance): a young and naïve marine recruit, who’s extraordinary journey through the ultimate horror of being a solider will showcase the bravery, resilience and brotherhood of the Marines. We are looking for an actor who can portray both a mid-western, boyish, naivety and transition into a hardened and heartbroken Marine. Vocally we are looking for a Jersey boy. Physically he is athletic looking yet not overly built, as he is just graduating from basic training. Master Sergeant Michael Deehan, (M, 30ish): Casey’s superior officer, mentor and partner in the unexpected hell that the men experience after being captured. A stoic yet heat in his sleeve kind of man, this performance requires a reserved yet powerful approach. The performer must be a storyteller conveying emotions physically and verbally. The man is well spoken, with a hint of southern drawl, barely noticeable. He is well built in his appearance through his uniform. Beth, (F, late 20’s): Michael’s girlfriend. The quintessential military girlfriend/soon to be wife. While no damsel in distress, Michael’s loss has affected her. She is care worn for her age and has clearly suffered because of his loss. The performer must be able to convey grief effectively through the use of facial and physical expression. Looking for a non-distinctive mid-western accent vocally. Man/Man in Fatigues, (M, 40’s): Casey’s abusive father and alternatively, his gunnery sergeant at Marine boot camp. A physical and verbal presence is required for this role. Physically he should have gone slightly to seed.Off Stage Voice/Man in Black, (M, Any Age): The physical embodiment of the men’s captor, as well as off stage verbal dialogue of various types. We are looking for a performer of moderate size and shape who will be seen in silhouette. 1000 DINNERS: A father and daughter share dinner and lessons from the past. GERRY -(male - 60's - 70's) A widower at the end of his career as he starts to become more and more forgetful. He is a loving father with much compassion for his daughter, Sabrina. A very sweet, kind, loving, and cosnisiderate man/father. SABRINA - (female - late 30's - mid 40's) - adivorced, pregnant frustrated woman who has not gotten over the loss of her mother; very concerned about her father and his slow aging decline; she is bitter and angry about the turns her life has taken. HOSTESS - (female - late 20's - early 30's - can be flexible on age) is the hostess / waitress in a small restaurant; she's a jack (jane) of all trades; she is a very pleasant, understanding, and compassionate woman. All Across The Green Lit Sea:Suzanne: 30’s, a woman who’s torn between two loves.Griffin: 30’s a man fighting for the love of his life. Vulnerable but trying to be strong.
