Freddy is forty-three, unemployed, and living in the same bedroom he grew up in, surrounded by the same Disney posters. His mother has met someone in Florida and is trying to work out whether she’s allowed to have a life. Barney, his best friend from childhood, is a psychologist in Ohio with a wife, a daughter, and a practice full of people who think he has the answers.
When they were thirteen, both boys were sexually abused by the same teacher. It became the biggest scandal the town had ever had. Barney’s family moved away. Freddy stayed.
Thirty years later Barney is back, and the two men finally have to face the strangest part of it: they were best friends the whole time, and they never told each other.
They told each other everything. Except one thing.
Same town. Same year. Same thing happened to both of them. The play asks which one of them actually survived it.
